About the Role

As an RN Manager in Med Surg Oncology, your voice influences patient care through open, collaborative relationships with your direct manager and formal opportunities via hospital councils and national nursing initiatives. You'll shape decisions that elevate patient outcomes and the future of nursing.

The Clinical Manager provides leadership and management for the clinical service area, focusing on patient care across a continuum. Responsibilities span clinical, financial, environmental, and employee-related functions, ensuring department operations stay within budgetary boundaries and comply with regulatory requirements.

You will serve as a professional role model, clinical resource, and liaison with the medical staff. The role involves integrating department services with the hospital’s primary functions, coordinating with other departments, and developing, implementing, and evaluating policies and procedures to guide service provision.

Responsibilities

  • Recommend and ensure a sufficient number of qualified, competent staff to meet patient and non-patient care needs.
  • Hire, orient, train, and evaluate new staff; provide ongoing in-service training, continuing education, and annual evaluations.
  • Oversee disciplinary processes and employee terminations within the department.
  • Ensure staff receives ongoing updates and information at the department and hospital levels.
  • Maintain department operations within budget and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures defining the scope of services.
  • Coordinate and integrate department services with other hospital departments.

Requirements

  • Registered Nurse (RN) with current licensure.
  • RN Diploma, Associate Degree, or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.
  • Hospital charge nurse experience is required.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment.
