RN Manager Med Surg

About the Role

Under the direction of the Nursing Director, the RN Manager Med Surg has direct-line responsibility for day-to-day operations and overall responsibility for the nursing department. This includes ensuring effective management, good communication, and appropriate discipline among employees. The Nurse Manager ensures that the charge nurse fulfills their responsibilities as front-line supervisors and is responsible 24/7 for the coordination of patient care, administrative, and nursing activities.

The Nurse Manager oversees the quality of nursing care provided to patients and is responsible for the implementation and evaluation of all nursing care and related activities. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Management of clinical nursing practice
• Staff recruitment, retention, and labor relations
• Supply chain and budget management
• Staffing and employee performance evaluation
• Quality improvement initiatives
• Staff education
• Medical records management
• Compliance with internal and external regulatory and survey requirements

Requirements

• Current unencumbered South Carolina or Multistate Compact Registered Nurse License or Compact State RN License
• Basic Life Support (BLS or BCLS) certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross (within 30 days of hire)
• ACLS certification (within 90 days of hire or transfer)
• NIH Stroke Scale certification (within 90 days of hire)
• National certification in specialty preferred

Qualifications

• Graduate of an NLN accredited school of nursing (BSN preferred)
• 3+ years of Med/Surg experience required
• 1+ years of leadership experience preferred
