About the role

Erlanger Behavioral Health Hospital in Chattanooga, Tennessee, is a psychiatric hospital offering mental health care for various age groups, including adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients. This position involves assisting the DON/CNO in directing, planning, coordinating, monitoring, and supervising nursing operations. The role also includes collaborating with interdisciplinary treatment teams, ensuring all residents' physical, biopsychosocial, age, developmental, and cultural needs are met, and managing nursing resources based on patient acuity.

Responsibilities

• Assists DON/CNO in directing, planning, coordinating, monitoring, and supervising nursing operations.
• Oversees the delivery of behavioral health/nursing services in a positive, empathetic, and professional manner.
• Collaborates with interdisciplinary treatment teams, other departments, and administration to meet residents' needs.
• Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and nursing practice standards.
• Manages nursing staff and other staff, coordinating care between departments and disciplines.
• Analyzes information to choose solutions for problem-solving.
• Recruits, hires, and trains new staff.
• Develops and implements educational or training programs for others.
• Prepares reports to inform management about unit status and initiatives.
• Performs administrative or managerial functions such as budget planning and expenditure authorization.
• Provides direct care as needed.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or higher preferred.
• Current registered nursing license in the State of facility required.
• Three years of registered nursing experience strongly preferred.
• Two years of registered nursing experience required.
• Two years of prior experience as a registered nurse with the facility's patient population preferred.
• One year of prior experience with the facility's patient population required.
• Prior experience as a house supervisor preferred.
• One year of charge RN or other administrative experience required.
• Current RN license as required by state.
• CPR and de-escalation/restraint certification required (training available upon hire).
