RN Labor Delivery
Job Summary
You will have varying roles and responsibilities in the Obstetrics department, including triaging patients, performing screening exams, guiding patients through inductions and deliveries, and monitoring both mother and baby's health.
Responsibilities
- Triage walk-ins to determine if a patient is in labor, water is broken, or there is a false alarm.
- Support pregnant patients in labor, including induction, epidural assistance (if needed), general pain management, and fetal monitoring.
- Assist and circulate in the operating room for cesarean sections, tubal ligations, cerclages, and emergency procedures.
- Provide education to patients on various interventions or procedures, such as medications, exams, and labor stages.
- Assess newborns and provide care.
- Communicate with the care management team, including anesthesiologists, physicians, midwives, lactation nurses, charge nurses, postpartum units, patients, and families.
Requirements
- 6 months acute care experience in labor and delivery.
- Current and active California license as a Registered Nurse.
- AHA Basic Fetal Monitoring, NRP, ACLS, BLS certifications required.
- Moderate Sedation for all monitored areas.
- PREFERRED: 1 year of acute care experience in labor and delivery.
- Bachelor's of Nursing.
