What You Will Do

  • Maintains and evaluates the clinical status of patients in the holding area and procedure room.
  • Provides nursing care based on medical regimens and patient conditions, following physician orders and established protocols.
  • Assesses, plans, and implements care for assigned patients, considering patient care policies, competencies, and safety practices.
    • Obtains patient history, makes clinical observations, and documents data in the record.
    • Informs patients about procedures and ensures all preparation instructions are completed.
    • Consents patients for procedures.
    • Performs venipunctures, places intravenous lines, administers medications, applies pain management measures, and assists medical and radiology staff.
    • Operates infusion pumps, monitors equipment, and reports any abnormalities or untoward events to the attending physician.
    • Administers moderate sedation medications and monitors patients during the sedation process.
    • Maintains patient medical records, documents care, and performs charting duties.
    • Enters and retrieves data using patient computer systems.
    • Maintains control and distributes controlled substances.
    • Takes inventory and restocks supplies.
    • Responds to Code Blue and intervenes in patient problems and emergencies.
    • Initiates and assists with CPR, BLS, ACLS, and PALS as required.
    • Communicates with patients and families regarding examinations, treatments, and outcomes.
    • Transports patients, specimens, equipment, and supplies.
    • Completes required training and supports performance improvement initiatives.
    • Trains and supervises LPNs and other support personnel.
    • Maintains a clean, orderly, and safe environment.
    • Adheres to policies, compliance, quality improvement, and safety standards.
    • Performs point-of-care laboratory testing as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN).
  • Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Experience in interventional radiology or related field preferred.
  • Knowledge of nursing interventions and patient care protocols.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Physical stamina and ability to perform demanding tasks.
