RN - Interventional Radiology

About the role

As an Interventional Radiology Registered Nurse, you’ll collaborate with a highly skilled clinical team in a fast-paced, innovative environment that values expertise and compassion. This full-time, non-exempt position offers a 1.00 FTE with a work shift of 10-hour days.

Responsibilities

• Utilize the nursing process to provide direct patient care to an assigned group of patients during a shift.
• Prioritize the delivery of direct nursing care using time and resources efficiently, integrating a standards-based framework model.
• Provide direct patient care by assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating, and documenting individual patient needs, actions taken, and patient responses.
• Coordinate patient care through collaboration with the patient/family and healthcare team.
• Perform assessments as per unit standards and document on appropriate data base/assessment flow sheet.
• Initiate, utilize, and document appropriate protocols and standards of care.
• Administer medication and treatments as prescribed by physician or protocols, and document according to policy.
• Identify and meet patient and family learning and discharge needs on admission and throughout episode of care.
• Evaluate patient progression toward outcomes per unit policies and document through EOSS.
• Perform competently in emergency situations.
• Delegate or assign aspects of patient care to healthcare team members commensurate with their validated competency to perform the task.
• Assume responsibility for the clinical supervision of LPNs and non-licensed assistive personnel.
• Provide leadership through communication about and validation of patient care.
• Assist with various procedures, treatments, surgical techniques, or assign to other healthcare team members as appropriate.
• Complete patient population/age-specific/procedure and protocol education and competency testing per unit policy.
• Demonstrate competency in required psychomotor skills.
• Assist in orientation of new staff or students and serve as a resource person and professional role model.
• Assume professional responsibility for current nursing structure, nursing guidelines of care, and policies.
• Incorporate PHS mission (VVPS) in care-giving activities.
• Support DON philosophies of professional governance and models of care delivery.
• Assume other leadership roles (e.g., relief charge nurse) as required by the department.

Professional Requirements

• Complete age-specific training (care giving, treatment, assessments specific to the age of populations served).
• Complete mandatory yearly in-service to include BLS, safety training, bloodborne pathogen/infection/respiratory fit testing training.
• Participate in unit/department governance.
• Adhere to PHS dress code for professionals, including display of ID badge.
• Document own continuing education.
• Maintain positive communication and relationships with patients, peers, and other healthcare team members.
• Participate in quality improvement activities.
• Maintain a punctual and reliable attendance record.
• Complete mandatory in-services, competencies, and licensure requirements on time.
• Adhere to safety and equipment policies.

Qualifications

• Associate Degree in Nursing
• State of New Mexico or Compact State Nursing License
• BLS certification (REQUIRED at time of hire)
• ACLS
• PALS
• One year Interventional Radiology Experience (Preferred)

Pay

Pay Range: $39.69 – $58.17 per hour
