RN Internal Agency | University Float Pool - SD/MS | Days

About the Role

This is a temporary, full-time 13-week assignment as an RN/Internal Agency nurse working on various step-down and med/surg units within Methodist University Hospital. The role serves as a backup staffing initiative, supplementing the Central Staffing pool to address staffing shortages outside of University Hospital on an as-needed basis.

Responsibilities

• Provide specialized nursing care, assessment, evaluation, and education to patients and families in accordance with established policies and procedures.
• Promote evidence-based practice by using research to develop, implement, and evaluate process standards, such as plans of care, protocols, and guidelines.
• Demonstrate leadership in the clinical practice area.

• Support the nursing profession through role modeling and fostering an environment of growth and learning.

• Direct and delegate all patient care activities on nursing units.

Requirements

• Associate’s Degree in Nursing (required).
• 1-3 years of experience in an acute care environment (required).
• Active Tennessee Registered Nurse license (required).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (required).
• Additional certifications may be required depending on the assigned nursing unit.
• Flexible and versatile in meeting changing staffing demands.
• Analytical skills to assess complex patient conditions and develop comprehensive care plans.
• Ability to synthesize multiple sources of information for problem resolution.
• Proficiency in applying technical principles and concepts central to the nursing profession.

Pay

$60.00 per hour.

Physical Demands

• Medium work: exerting up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally and/or up to 25 lbs. of force frequently.
• Physical activities include climbing, pushing, standing, hearing, walking, reaching, grasping, kneeling, stooping, and repetitive motion.
• Close visual acuity required for patient assessment, data analysis, and extensive reading.
• Frequent invasive and non-invasive patient contact.
• Exposure to patient body fluids and hazardous materials.
• Ability to react quickly to emergency situations.
• Available to work a flexible schedule according to agreed commitment level.
