About the Role

The Registered Nurse (RN) provides quality patient and family-centered care as a member of the healthcare team in accordance with St. Charles Health System's mission, philosophy, policies, and procedures. This position applies professional nursing standards, focuses clinical care to enhance patient and family experiences, and oversees the work of other caregivers while providing direct care to assigned patients.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains and demonstrates in-depth knowledge of nursing principles, practices, standards, and techniques in compliance with St. Charles Health System policies and Oregon state regulations.
  • Assesses patient conditions and needs using critical thinking and clinical judgment; sets outcomes, implements nursing actions, collaborates with other disciplines, and evaluates patient progress.
  • Calculates dosages and administers medications accurately according to policies and procedures.
  • Documents all patient care proficiently in compliance with hospital policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Demonstrates awareness of and supports departmental and organizational goals through participation in continuous quality improvement and departmental activities.
  • Participates in professional growth and development activities for self and others.
  • Communicates effectively (written and orally) and maintains professional relationships with caregivers, medical staff, patients, and guests.
  • Identifies work-related problems and implements solutions within the scope of practice.
  • Supports the organization’s vision, mission, and values, including Lean principles for continuous improvement.
  • Creates a healing environment that supports the wholeness of patients and caregivers through intentional relationships and focused care.
  • Provides therapeutic presence by actively listening, communicating effectively, and responding to patient needs.
  • Maintains a safe environment for caregivers, patients, and guests.
  • Conducts all activities with professionalism and confidentiality, complying with laws, regulations, and policies.
  • Delivers timely, efficient, and accurate customer service and patient care.
  • Performs standby callback as assigned and additional duties as required.

Requirements

  • Current Oregon RN license.
  • AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Provider certification.
  • ACLS certification (preferred).
  • Department-specific acute care certification (e.g., CCRN, PCCN, CEN) preferred.

Qualifications

  • Education: Required as per RN licensure; BSN preferred.
  • Experience:
    • Bend-Intermediate Care Unit: One year of Progressive Care Unit, Step Down, Intensive Care Unit, or Emergency Department experience within the past five years. Previous experience must enable performance of the full scope of the position.
    • Experience with cardiovascular patient populations preferred.
  • Additional Requirements for Bend-Intermediate Care Unit:
    • Basic ECG course, 12 Lead ECG course, or successful completion of Basic ECG competency test for internal applicants.
    • 12 Lead ECG course within 6 months of hire.
