About the role
This position is a full-time night shift role in the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) at Arkansas Children's Hospital. The primary responsibility is to provide competent nursing care to patients and families.
Responsibilities
- Autonomously provide safe and effective patient and family-centered care
- Analyze, think critically, plan, prioritize, and organize care
- Make appropriate clinical judgments and efficiently manage routine and unexpected clinical situations
- Provide complete and address physical, psychosocial, and educational needs of the patient and family
- Document all patient and family education activities and facilitate comprehensive interdisciplinary teaching
- Evaluate own performance to identify areas of strength and needs for professional development
- Participate in councils, committees, taskforces and hospital initiatives, onboarding, recruitment, and retention activities
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Demonstrated performance of 100% at the previous level and score within documented RN II/III levels via ACHieve career ladder for internal employees
- Nursing - 1 year of experience
Qualifications
- Required Education: Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year college program or technical school or nursing diploma
- Recommended Education: Bachelor's Degree Nursing

- Competent level of understanding and application of the AC Model of Patient and Family-Centered care
- Competent technical and procedural nursing skills
- Meaningful clinical documentation, completes hand-offs and participates in rounds and team meetings
- Competent assessment of patients and developmentally appropriate and culturally sensitive care
- Anticipates and incorporates appropriate diversional, play, or recreational activities
- Competent response to changes in patient condition
- Advances evidence-based nursing practice using best available evidence, patient's and family's preferences and values, and team's clinical expertise
- Able to search for and apply evidence to guide clinical practice
- Exemplifies and supports the AC Professional Practice Model
- Accountable for the quality of patient care by initiating advocacy actions for patients, families and AC team as needed
- Successfully guides individuals, groups and activities to achieve patient goals and positive outcomes
- Participates in community activities which promote health and wellness
- Mentors, coaches, and teaches healthcare professionals and students
