Responsibilities
- Administers medications within the scope of practice and the hospital's policies and procedures.
- Assesses, evaluates, interprets, and documents the patient's physical and mental status.
- Identifies patient care requirements by establishing rapport with patients and significant others; collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to resolve patient problems.
- Promotes patient independence by setting care goals, teaching patients and significant others about conditions, medications, and self-care skills, and answering questions.
- Ensures quality of care by adhering to therapeutic standards, measuring health outcomes, and making or recommending adjustments as needed.
- Maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations; protects patients and employees by following policies and protocols.
- Maintains patient confidentiality and protects operations by documenting actions, irregularities, and continuing needs in the electronic medical record.
- Stays current with professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing publications, establishing networks, and participating in professional societies.
- Completes annual competency and regulatory education.
- Contributes to team efforts measured by Press Ganey/HCAPS, AIDET, and Model of Care and Conduct.
Requirements
- Thorough knowledge of a variety of medical equipment.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, as well as critical thinking skills.
- Ability to administer medications per policy and procedure.
- Ability to follow the National Patient Safety Goals.
- Ability to interpret lab and diagnostic results as they relate to patient status.
- Ability to communicate with all disciplines using SBAR.
- Ability to multi-task while demonstrating a courteous, kind, caring, compassionate, and positive attitude.
- Clinical skills, bedside manner, infection control, nursing skills, physiological knowledge, medical teamwork, listening, verbal communication, and health promotion.
Qualifications
- Current Licensed Registered Nurse (RN) certification.
- Certified in Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).
- ACLS certification required for ED/ICU.
- BLS certification required for Med Surg areas.
- College diploma in Nursing (required).
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (preferred).
- 0 years of experience required (entry-level considered).
