About the role
Organizes and directs hospital-wide patient care activities during assigned shift in Patient Services Department, usually during evenings and weekends. Represents the hospital administration in assuming delegated shift responsibilities.
Responsibilities
- Prepares work schedules, assigns staff, observes performance to provide input to formal evaluations, and makes recommendations for personnel actions;
- Aids in staff selection and provides training and orientation for new employees;
- Maintains and implements established department, unit, and hospital policies, procedures, and objectives as well as quality assurance, environmental and infection control policies;
- Inspects area each shift for compliance with policies, procedures, regulations, and standards and takes corrective action when violations occur;
- Investigates complaints of patients, nursing staff, and medical staff and takes appropriate action; follows up to ensure that complaints have been satisfactorily handled;
- Uses independent judgment about contacting Administrator On Call when appropriate for resolution of serious or immediate problems;
- Provides available nursing personnel to departments, requesting supplemental staff as needed in response to varying census conditions;
- Adheres to TMC organizational and department-specific safety, confidentiality, values, policies and standards.
Requirements
- Education: Associate's degree in nursing required.
- Experience: Four (4) years of nursing experience, preferably in a lead or supervisory role.
Qualifications
- Licensure or Certification: Current RN licensure permitting work in the State of Arizona, Basic Life Support (BLS), and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required.
