About the role

Responsibilities
- Interacts with co-workers, patients, their family/designated care partner(s), and other staff consistently with Jefferson's values.
- Partners with patients, their family/designated care partner(s) to identify learning needs and priorities, and educates them about their condition, treatment, and recovery.
- Administers medications and prescribes treatments based on patient needs and medical guidelines.
- Develops and implements nursing plans of care that are tailored to the individual needs and preferences of patients, respecting their cultural background.
- Ensures patient safety by minimizing risks and following established protocols and individual performance standards.
- Communicates effectively with patients, families, and other healthcare professionals using clear and respectful language.
- Monitors patient outcomes and collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to improve care quality and safety.
- Participates in hospital committees and demonstrates a commitment to lifelong learning and professional development.
Requirements
- Specialized Diploma from an accredited school of nursing.
- Knowledge of patient-and-family centered care, cultural awareness, and effective communication.
- Experience in assessing ailments and injuries, implementing treatment plans, and educating patients and their designated care partners.
- Ability to administer medications and prescribe treatments based on medical guidelines.
- Experience in discharge planning and managing patient care transitions.
- Knowledge of health information documentation and relevant health information systems.
- BLS and ACLS certification.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) or completion of a BSN program within 3 years of hire, preferred.
- One year of previous experience as an RN in an acute care setting, preferred.
