Responsibilities
- Assesses patients, implements department protocols and provides appropriate nursing interventions and on-going assessment.
- Implements life support procedures in emergency situation.
- Facilitates patient flow in the department.
- Promotes cost consciousness by directing patients to D/C area for collections and using supplies wisely.
- Treats all patients, families, co-workers and physicians in a customer friendly manner, actively giving information to patient and family, providing comfort measures, maintaining clean work environment and calling patients for follow up as assigned.
- Maintains accurate records, legibly documents and reports patient care and charges, time of triage, time placed on bed, and time discharged from Emergency Services.
- Documents and discharges patients giving appropriate teaching information and referrals.
Qualifications
- Current Alabama RN license or a current RN multi-state license.
- Prior critical care or emergency room experience preferred.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to work independently in a fast paced environment, requiring prioritizing and changing tasks frequently and quickly.
- Knowledge of all equipment and materials required for procedures described in the Emergency Care Center Policy/Procedure Manual and Nursing Service Procedure Manual.
- BCLS, ACLS, PALS and department specific competencies must be maintained.
- TNCC is preferred.
- BLS must be obtained within 90 days of employment.
- ACLs and PALS must be obtained within the first year of employment.
