This is a 7-bay hemodialysis inpatient unit staffed with RNs and hemodialysis technicians. The team cares for acute renal failure patients as well as chronic patients with end-stage renal disease. Treatments may be given within the hemodialysis unit or at bedside in critical care and medical units. The group has many years of dialysis experience, with teamwork as the core of its foundation.

About the role

The RN, under the ANA scope of practice, utilizes the nursing process framework to provide professional nursing care by incorporating patient-family centered care principles. Responsibilities include assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating, and discharging care. The RN provides quality patient care under the direction of the Nurse Leader according to Corewell Health policies and procedures, recognizing the impact of nursing care and patient/family partnerships on outcomes. The RN partners with patients and families to develop care plans, creates teaching strategies, and documents education and learning in the health record.

Requirements

  • Associate’s in Nursing (Required)
  • Bachelor’s in Nursing (Required within 5 years)
  • Graduates from a non-accredited school of nursing must have at least one year of acute care experience or at least two years of experience in a licensed health care role and must have successfully passed the NCLEX licensure examination
  • Michigan Registered Nurse (RN) license (Required)
  • AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (Required upon hire)
  • Specialty Certification (highly recommended within 2 years)

  • Weekly Scheduled Hours: 36
  • Days Worked: Variable; Self Schedule
  • Weekend Frequency: Every other weekend
