About the role
The Head Nurse oversees patient care, staff management, and daily operations within a designated nursing unit. They utilize the nursing process to guide clinical decisions, ensuring safe, quality care that respects patient autonomy and dignity. They provide clinical leadership to nursing staff, collaborating with leadership to maintain care standards in alignment with hospital policies.
Responsibilities
- Interpret, review, and integrate diagnostic data related to patient conditions.
- Partner with multidisciplinary teams to identify and implement improvements in care delivery.
- Guide staff during critical, life-threatening situations and evaluate intervention outcomes.
- Innovate work processes to enhance patient outcomes.
- Participate in clinical leadership activities such as coaching, mentoring, staffing, and performance evaluations.
- Engage in initiatives to improve healthcare delivery and support patient care collaboration.
- Promote ongoing learning and professional development among staff.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in the current unit or similar setting.
- Computer literacy skills.
- RN licensure.
- BLS certification required within 14 days of hire.
Preferred Skills
- ACLS certification.
