About the role

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for our Medical Surgical Unit. In this role, you will be responsible for planning, executing, and evaluating the nursing care given to respiratory, dialysis, renal, and surgical patients. You will develop and implement individual patient care plans in accordance with standards of nursing practice through the nursing process and nursing diagnosis.

Responsibilities

• Administer medications as ordered for a specific group of patients and demonstrate knowledge of their modes of action, side effects, and contraindications.
• Initiate, regulate, and manage IV therapy for assigned patients.
• Assume responsibility for patient placement on the unit and assignment of care responsibilities, considering the complexity of nursing care required by each patient.
• Evaluate patient environment for safety and communicate identified concerns to the appropriate person in a timely manner.
• Provide patient education and keep patients informed of treatment plans.

Requirements

• Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing (BSN preferred).
• Current CPR certification from the American Heart Association (BLS).
• Complies with hospital employee health, infection control, and safety management programs.
• Minimum 1 year of current acute care hospital experience in Med Surg required.
• Current Registered Nurse license in the State of Nevada.
• Independently maintains license and acquires required contact hours to maintain practice.
