About the role
This full-time position offers a $2,000 sign-on bonus for external candidates only. Current employees and those rehiring within 6 months are not eligible. An employment agreement is required.
Responsibilities
- Communicates with physicians, Nurse Manager, and co-workers about changes in patient’s clinical condition, including results of diagnostic studies and symptomatology.
- Able to respond quickly and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatment.
- Performs general nursing duties in all departments with adequate supervision.
- Performs a head-to-toe assessment on all patients and reassesses as per policy, including pediatric, geriatric, and general patient populations.
- Able to assess and reassess pain and utilize appropriate pain management techniques.
- Educates patients and families regarding pain management.
- Revises and evaluates the plan of care based on patient's response to treatment and overall plan effectiveness.
- Performs waived testing (point-of-care testing) according to Clinical Laboratory and resident care unit policies and procedures, interprets results, and takes appropriate action.
- Assists physicians with procedures and performs services requiring technical and manual skills.
- Supports administration, patients, physicians, and other healthcare providers.
- Interacts professionally with patient/family and involves them in the plan of care.
- Identifies and addresses psychosocial, cultural, ethnic, and religious/spiritual needs of patients and their families.
- Coordinates and supervises patient care as necessary.
- Maintains a good working relationship both within the department and with other departments.
- Communicates with Social Service/Discharge Planner regarding both in-hospital and post-discharge needs.
- Documents patient care in accordance with current standards and policies.
- Manages and operates equipment safely and correctly.
- Communicates appropriately and clearly to Nurse Manager, co-workers, and physicians.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing or graduate of an accredited LPN program.
- Current state Registered Nurse Licensure or current LPN licensure within the state of Arkansas.
- Current BLS certification.
- Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
- Basic computer knowledge.
- Ability to lift up to 100 pounds, carry up to 40 pounds, push/pull up to 450 pounds.
- Knowledge of medications and their correct administration based on age of the patient and their clinical condition.
- Follows the seven (7) medication rights and reduces the potential for medication errors.
- Ability to interpret data about the patient's status to identify age-specific needs and provide care.
- Ability to perform treatments and provide services to level licensure.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
- Additional languages preferred.
