About the role

River Place Behavioral Health, a service of Ochsner Health System, offers state-of-the-art psychiatric care for adults dealing with depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, and other mental health issues. Located in LaPlace, Louisiana, it's conveniently situated 20 minutes west of New Orleans and 40 minutes east of Baton Rouge.

Responsibilities

• Assess patients' physical and behavioral health needs.
• Develop and implement nursing care plans.
• Maintain medical records and educate patients and their families about various health conditions.
• Provide nursing care and services within the standards and scope of nursing practice as defined by the state Nurse Practice Act.
• Ensure physicians’ orders are transcribed appropriately and notify physicians of significant changes in status.
• Complete admission and discharge processing efficiently and accurately.
• Communicate with patients in a therapeutic manner, maintaining professional boundaries and rational detachment.
• Coordinate activities of the unit as directed.

Requirements

• Graduated from an accredited school of nursing.
• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license as required by the state of employment or eligibility to practice nursing according to state requirements.
• One year of nursing experience, preferably in psychiatric, mental, behavioral, or substance use settings.
• CPR and de-escalation and restraint certification required (training available).

Skills

• Knowledge of universal precautions.
• Ability to administer medications accurately.
• Proficiency in documenting patient care effectively.
• Effective communication skills.

Pay

• $15k bonus for full-time night shift work.
• Day shift differential of $4/hr.
• Night shift differential of $7/hr.
• Weekend day shift differential of $3/hr.
• Weekend night shift differential of $3/hr.

Schedule

• Full-time, part-time, and PRN positions available.
• Nights shift available.
• Shifts range from 12 hours.
• Every other weekend availability.
