This position is located at Carilion New River Valley Medical Center (CNRVMC) in Christiansburg, VA working full time. Shifts are 0745-1715, four-9 hours shifts Monday - Friday, with overnight and weekend call as needed.
The RN provides professional nursing care to patients across all age groups, supporting patient-centered care through assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care. This role collaborates with the healthcare team to ensure safe, effective, and high-quality patient outcomes.
- Provides individualized patient care and coordinates care delivery for patients of all ages.
- Affirms and addresses patient and family education needs.
- Participates in performance improvement and quality initiatives.
- Advocates for patients and supports their rights and psychosocial needs.
- Applies knowledge of growth and development to provide age-appropriate care.
- Demonstrates clinical expertise in dynamic and changing care environments.
- Implements strategies to improve patient outcomes and resource utilization.
- Serves as a role model and supports development of peers and team members.
- Manages resources, prioritizes tasks, and adapts to changing patient care needs.
- Serves as a liaison between patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams.
- Supports orientation and training of new employees.
- Uses problem-solving skills to address patient care and operational challenges.
- Provides feedback and participates in shared decision-making activities.
- Supports education activities within the department.
- Maintains confidentiality and complies with regulatory and organizational standards.
What We Require
- Education: Graduate of a State Board of Nursing approved program required.
- Licensure, Certification, and/or Registration: Current Registered Nurse license in the Commonwealth of Virginia required or eligibility to obtain licensure required.
- Life Support: AHA BLS-HCP required.
- Additional certifications such as ACLS, PALS, or NRP may be required based on assigned work area.
- Minimum Qualifications: Keyboarding skills and computer literacy required, including use of electronic medical records.
- For Behavioral Health roles, must demonstrate ability to safely manage disruptive or potentially violent patients.
