Baylor Scott & White Medical Center - Waxahachie is seeking a Full-Time Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Emergency Department on night shift. This high-performing ED is known for exceptional patient satisfaction scores, low turnover, and strong employee engagement.
About the Role
Department Highlights:
- Level IV Trauma Center & Primary Stroke Center (Submitting level III Trauma designation)
- 37-bed Emergency Department
- 65,000+ visits annually

Schedule
- Full-Time Nights
- 3 (12-hour) shifts: 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM
- Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 4:1 standard, up to 6:1 for low-acuity patients
Responsibilities
- Oversee patient care using a professional practice model, including patient assessment, recognizing health issues, creating care plans, and assessing patient responses.
- Secure patient travel and address patient needs in healthcare.
- Help patients and prevent issues while following the Texas Nursing Practice Act.
- Delegate tasks based on patient condition and team competencies.
- Conduct detailed clinical assessments and prioritize patient and family needs.
- Create, implement, and evaluate care plans, adjusting as needed to reach desired outcomes.
- Build therapeutic relationships with patients and families, managing discomfort and maintaining professionalism.
- Educate patients, families, nurses, and community members to empower them with knowledge for better healthcare choices.
- Assess and document learning needs regularly.
- Collaborate with colleagues and the community to create care plans.
- Delegate tasks carefully and follow up promptly.
- Use problem-solving strategies with patients, families, and staff, recognizing limitations and prioritizing safety, effectiveness, and efficiency.
- Achieve goals through teamwork, recognize contributions, commit to growth, and contribute to peers' development.
Requirements
- Active RN license (Texas or compact)
- BLS certification (or obtain within 30 days of starting)
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program
- Critical Care experience required
- At least 2 years of Emergency Department experience preferred
- Strong assessment skills and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
Qualifications
- Deep understanding of nursing and patient care standards, procedures, and laws.
- Proficiency in medical terminology, focusing on health, disease prevention, management, common medications, and their side effects.
- Respect for medical and professional nursing ethics and patient privacy rights.
- Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Positive social skills to interact with a diverse range of individuals.
- Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking capabilities.
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office, electronic medical documentation, and email.
