About the role

To deliver care and create a therapeutic environment for patients and families whose needs range from basic to complex by utilizing the nursing process. To carry out functions in a manner consistent with Performance Improvement and in accordance with hospital policies and procedures. To demonstrate clinical excellence through proficient practice which enhances and enriches the practice environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assess patient pain regularly to promote effective pain management, including reassessments after appropriate intervention.
  • Perform procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by the medical provider(s).
  • Document the administration of care in the patient medical record in a timely and thorough manner.
  • Perform exceptional care by responding promptly to patient requests and strive to anticipate patient needs, resolving them proactively.
  • Teach patients/families/caregivers about patient medical condition, patient status, treatment plan, medications and possible side effects, and follow-up measures. Translate complex medical terminology to ensure complete understanding.
  • Teach patients/families/caregivers about any non-medicinal follow-up measures, such as healthy diet and exercise, disease prevention, and/or other lifestyle changes.
  • Prepare patients and families/caregivers for future self-management.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; BSN strongly preferred.
  • Specialty certification strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of 9 months of nursing experience.
  • Current registration in the State of NH as a Registered Nurse.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
