About the role
Piedmont Eastside Medical Center in Snellville, GA is seeking positive, self-motivated, engaged individuals to join our Emergency Department team. This is a part-time day shift position with 2 x 12-hour shifts per week, including some weekends.
Department overview
- 38-bed Emergency Department averaging 160 patients daily with various acuities
- Primary Stroke and Stemi receiving facility with ability to intervene and administer thrombolytics
- Two helicopter pads on campus
- 5 PODs in the department; patient assignment based on acuity
- Dedicated Behavioral Health Pod
- Collaborative team includes Charge Nurses, ED Flow Coordinators, Paramedics, ED Techs, PCTs, Mental Health Technicians, and Unit Secretaries working closely with ED Providers
Responsibilities
- Provide nursing care to patients from birth through lifecycle utilizing nursing processes to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care
- Function within framework of organizational policies and procedures, demonstrating professional growth and accountability
- Maintain standards of practice and coordinate patient care activities of all assigned staff
- Perform patient assessments including collection of data regarding physical, psychosocial, and health history
- Evaluate developmental age of patients when performing assessments, treatments, and patient/family education
- Organize patient data into formulation of a plan of care; identify additional information needed and make care decisions based on identified needs
- Identify expected patient outcomes and carry out plan of care to achieve them
- Provide patient care specific to setting, identified needs, and plan; ensure care is appropriate to severity of disease, condition, impairment, or disability
- Oversee activities of ancillary and support team members
- Identify teaching opportunities and provide resources necessary for achieving patient educational goals
- Communicate issues/concerns to Charge Nurse, Clinical Manager, and/or physician as appropriate
- Document patient care and concerns in the patient record
Qualifications
- Graduate from a recognized, accredited school of nursing (Required)
- Bachelor's Degree (Preferred)
- No experience required; new graduates of a nursing program eligible (Required)
- Nursing experience in hospital setting (Preferred)
- 1 year in a hospital setting for PRN positions (Preferred)
- RN - Registered Nurse - Current License in the State of Georgia as a Registered Nurse or NLC/eNLC Multistate License (Required)
- BCLS - Basic Life Support (Required)
- Advanced certification in field of specialty, if applicable
