RN Emergency Department PRN Mixed Shifts

About the Role

Saint Alphonsus Health System is seeking a PRN Registered Nurse for the Emergency Department at the Medical Center in Baker City, Oregon (located off the La Grande‑Baker Hwy, just below the Elkhorn Mountains). The RN will provide hands‑on patient care, collaborate with colleagues, maintain accurate documentation, and use resources wisely while advocating for patients’ physical, spiritual, and emotional well‑being.

Responsibilities

• Deliver direct patient care in a six‑bed Emergency Department unit focused on trauma and stroke cases.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to coordinate care.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes.
• Advocate for patients by promoting their physical, spiritual, and emotional health.
• Educate patients and families about conditions, treatments, and self‑care.
• Administer prescribed medications and treatments safely.
• Develop and adjust individualized care plans based on patient needs.

Requirements

• Current Oregon Registered Nurse license as defined by the Oregon State Board of Nursing.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for healthcare providers (AHA, ARC, or Military Training Network) at hire, unless already certified in ACLS and/or PALS.
• ACLS and/or PALS certification to be obtained within six months of hire.
• At least 1 year of acute care nursing experience, with high‑acuity or critical‑care patient population experience required.
