About the Role
Baylor Scott & White - Lake Pointe Rowlett is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Emergency Department. Patient Population: Pediatric, Adult, Geriatric. Patient Ratios: 1:4-5. Number of Beds: 20. Shift: Full-Time Evenings.
Responsibilities
- Oversee patient care using a professional practice model, including assessment, recognizing health issues, creating care plans, and evaluating patient responses.
- Secure patient travel and understand patient needs in healthcare.
- Help patients and prevent issues.
- Follow the Texas Nursing Practice Act and delegate tasks based on condition and team competencies.
- Conduct detailed clinical assessments and prioritize patient and family needs; adjust care plans to reach desired outcomes.
- Build therapeutic connections with patients and families by managing discomfort and staying professional.
- Educate patients, families, nurses, and community members; assess and document learning needs regularly.
- Collaborate with colleagues and community to create care plans; delegate tasks and follow up promptly.
- Use different problem-solving strategies with patients, families, and staff.
- Prioritize safety, effectiveness, and efficiency in patient care planning and delivery.
- Achieve goals through teamwork, recognize contributions, commit to growth, contribute to peers' development, and show community service commitment.
Qualifications
- Graduate of an Accredited Program
- Active RN License
- Minimum of 2 years of recent Emergency Department RN experience
- Basic Life Support (BLS) or obtain within 30 days of hire or transfer
- Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) or obtain within 18 months of hire or transfer
- Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) or obtain within 18 months of hire or transfer

- Deep understanding of nursing and patient care standards, procedures, laws, rules, and guidelines
- Proficiency in medical terms, health, disease prevention, management, common medications, and side effects
- Respect for medical and professional nursing ethics and patient privacy rights
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
- Positive social skills for interacting with diverse groups
- Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking capabilities
- Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office, information security, scheduling/payroll systems, electronic medical documentation, email)
About the Unit
Our Emergency Department is a Level 3 trauma center, Chest pain accredited center, and stroke receiving center, averaging 100 patients per day with around 20-30 EMS ambulances daily.
