RN - Emergency Department

About the role

Join Cleveland Clinic Fairview Hospital, a Magnet Hospital awarded by the American Nurses Credentialing Center, and provide stellar care at one of the nation’s top healthcare organizations. The Emergency Department (ED) is a Level II Trauma Center specializing in general emergency/trauma, cardiac services, sepsis care, and SANE (sexual assault nurse examiner) services. As an RN, you will deliver exceptional care throughout the patient journey, interact directly with patients and families, and provide healthcare education. This position is open to registered nurses with prior cardiac services experience or those seeking to develop expertise in this specialty.

Schedule

Night shift: 7:00 p.m. - 7:30 a.m., with weekend and holiday requirements.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care
• Implement, monitor, evaluate, update, and revise patient care plans
• Monitor, record, document, and communicate patients' conditions
• Administer prescribed medications and treatments
• Note and carry out physician and nursing orders
• Assess and coordinate patients' discharge needs
• Educate patients and their families

Requirements

• Graduate from an accredited school of Professional Nursing (ADN or BSN program)
• Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) and PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) through American Heart Association (AHA) upon hire or within one year of hire
• One year of current acute care RN experience OR licensed military RN experience

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN)
• Critical care background

Physical Requirements

• Full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination
• Standing and walking for extended periods of time
• Corrected vision and hearing to normal range
• Working under stressful conditions and irregular hours
• Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids
• Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects

Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

Pay

Pay range for new hires: $35.50 - $55.60 per hour. Actual compensation will be determined based on work history, experience, skill set, and education. The pay range does not include shift differentials, overtime, or the value of Cleveland Clinic’s benefits package.
