About the Role
We are seeking an experienced nurse leader to provide leadership, direction, and support for one or more Patient Care departments at Memorial Hermann Cypress Hospital. This role ensures the delivery of high-quality care to patients while overseeing budget, staffing, and Continuous Quality Improvement processes. Memorial Hermann Cypress Hospital is a full-service, acute-care facility located on 32 acres in the fast-growing Cypress area, serving Northwest Houston with advanced medical equipment and state-of-the-art technology. Responsibilities
- Directs the day-to-day operations for assigned patient care departments, maintaining 24/7 operational responsibility and directing clinical and non-clinical staff.
- Reviews and approves all new hires, establishes and controls standards for performance appraisals, identifies staffing needs, coordinates training, and recognizes staff achievements.
- Works with service line leaders and managers to establish departmental scope of service, goals, and strategic plans; stays updated on new developments in the field and incorporates them into the department’s scope.
- Monitors and directs all patient care activities, ensuring the highest level of service and optimizing the patient experience.
- Participates in systemic, interdisciplinary, and ongoing evaluation of programs, process improvement, and organizational outcomes.
- Ensures revenue, expenses, contribution margin, and FTEs meet or exceed budget; prepares and submits budget reports, forecasts expenses, and takes corrective action for negative variances.
- Promotes physician input and communication, including medical staff in planning policies and procedures, and encourages new physicians to utilize hospital services.
- Adheres to all regulatory and Texas Board of Nursing requirements and standards.
- Ensures safe care for patients, staff, and visitors by adhering to Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards.
- Promotes individual professional growth and development through continuing education, skills competency, and mentorship.
- Demonstrates commitment to compassionate, personalized, and efficient care for every member of the community.
- Performs other duties as assigned within scope of practice and clinical competency.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Nursing degree from an accredited school of professional nursing (required); Master’s Degree (preferred).
- Current State of Texas license or temporary/compact license to practice professional nursing.
- Professional Certification in clinical area or management within one year of hire (preferred).
- Five (5) years of progressive clinical experience; see attached Table 1 for Direction I-IV leveling.
