A $15,000 sign-on bonus is available for this day-shift (0700-1930) ER RN role. Experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

The RN's practice is guided by the ANA Standard for Professional Nurse and Code of Ethics. The RN has knowledge of professional nursing principles, practices, concepts, and procedures as applied to the care of the patient population served.

• Record patients' medical history and symptoms, perform diagnostic tests, analyze results, operate medical equipment, administer treatment and medications, and assist with patient follow-up and rehabilitation.
• Establish or contribute to a care plan, including administering medication, managing IV lines, administering therapies, observing and recording patient status, and consulting with physicians and other healthcare clinicians.
• Teach patients and families about managing illnesses or injuries, post-treatment and home care needs, diet, nutrition, exercise programs, and self-administration of medication and therapy.
• Provide direction to licensed practical nurses and nursing aides regarding patient care and delegate tasks appropriately.
• Support efforts to advance clinical knowledge and skills, precept new hires and students, and assist them in completing competency tasks.
• Collect health data systematically, prioritize based on the patient’s immediate condition, and involve the family in the process.
• Analyze assessment data to determine diagnoses and develop, implement, evaluate, and revise patient care plans that are family-centered, developmentally and age-appropriate, and culturally relevant.
• Identify expected outcomes individualized to the patient’s condition and develop evidence-based, cost-effective plans of care for continuity.
• Implement interventions, initiate treatments, medications, emergency and resuscitative measures based on standing orders, policies, and procedures.
• Provide nursing care to meet physical, emotional, spiritual, and social-cultural needs using a family-centered approach.
• Evaluate patient progress toward outcomes and document observations, interventions, and monitoring data in a retrievable form.
• Continuously evaluate the quality and effectiveness of care plans to enhance patient outcomes and promote cost-effective, high-quality healthcare.
• Evaluate one’s own nursing practice in relation to professional standards, statutes, and regulations, maintaining current knowledge.
• Integrate ethical principles into all aspects of practice and enhance cultural and diversity awareness for specific populations.
• Collaborate with peers and other healthcare providers to foster professional development and create an environment for quality practice.
• Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team, patients, and families in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care.
• Develop and evaluate evidence-based standards of care and identify changes to improve nursing practice and patient outcomes.
• Participate in and apply evidence-based research to identify strategies for improving nursing practice and patient outcomes.
• Design and apply research to support the integration of evidence into practice and evaluate clinical, educational, and managerial data.
• Consider factors related to safety, effectiveness, and cost in planning and delivering patient care, utilizing resources efficiently.

Requirements

• Associates or Diploma in Nursing required. All Diploma and ADN hires must complete a BSN within 60 months of hire OR have 5 or more years of Registered Nurse experience (including direct patient care or indirect RN roles) at the time of hire.
• Bachelors in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
• Refer to the addendum for stroke-specific education requirements for staff caring for stroke patients (required prior to start).
• More than 10 months of med-surg or acute specialty setting experience required.
• 1 year of RN experience required for all Float Positions.

Qualifications

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required (unit-specific certification may also be required).
• State and/or Compact State Licensure as a Registered Nurse in Arizona upon hire.
• National certification for unit-specific patient population preferred.
