About the role
This job is located at our FROEDTERT HOSPITAL facility in MILWAUKEE, WI, and is an on-site position with a sign-on bonus. The Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit is a 20-bed state of the art ICU that cares for medical and surgical cardiovascular patients, including those with Advanced Heart Failure, pre and post heart transplant patients, and those needing short or long term ventricular assist device support.
The interprofessional team of nurses, physicians, advanced practice providers, patient care technicians, respiratory care practitioners, and physical and occupational therapists work together to ensure optimal high quality care and outcomes for our patients. The CVICU staff is highly engaged in both the work unit and process improvement.
Responsibilities
The Registered Nurse is a practitioner who is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care for an identified group of patients in an inpatient environment. This individual demonstrates competency in delivery of care to a primarily adult population.
Requirements
- Clinical competence and experience in the care and management of target patient populations specific to area of employment
- Professional knowledge of nursing theory and practice at a level normally acquired through completion of education at an accredited School of Nursing in order to be eligible for licensure as a Registered Nurse
- Current state of Wisconsin Registered Nurse License or a Multi-state Nursing License from a participating state in the NLC (Nurse Licensure Compact)
- American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Provider (BLS) or an AHA approved equivalent is required within 90 days of hire
- American Heart Association (AHA) Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) is required within one year of hire
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing is preferred. Upon hire, any non-BSN nurse with less than one year of licensed registered nurse experience will be required to enroll in a BSN (or higher nursing degree) program.

Pay and Schedule
FTE: 0.900000, Standard Hours: 36.00, Shift: Shift 3, 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM, with every third weekend rotation and holiday rotation.
