Job Summary
The Registered Nurse in the Centralized Monitoring Unit (CMU) supports the safe and efficient monitoring of nearly 300 patients’ cardiac rhythms and hemodynamic status. This is a non-direct care position, ideal for a clinically skilled RN with experience in telemetry who enjoys working in a fast-paced, technologically advanced environment.
Job Responsibilities
- Support and coordinate the daily activities of Central Monitor Technicians to ensure timely and accurate telemetry monitoring.
- Serve as a clinical resource for rhythm interpretation, protocol adherence, and telemetry best practices.
- Collaborate with the CMU Nurse Educator to help provide training and reinforce department policies and procedures.
- Support smooth transitions between shifts to maintain continuity of patient monitoring.
- Participate in daily team huddles and contribute to unit-based initiatives.
- Act as a communication link between the CMU and inpatient clinical staff, promoting timely updates and coordination.
- Aid in reviewing staffing assignments and making adjustments as needed.
- Contribute to quality improvement efforts related to telemetry and monitoring workflows.
- Assist with coaching and guiding staff in real-time situations, promoting best practices and a supportive team environment.
Qualifications
- BSN required; MSN preferred.
- One degree must be in Nursing. Candidates actively pursuing a BSN or MSN may be considered, with continued progress toward degree completion expected within five years.
- Minimum one year of nursing experience, including telemetry experience.
- Current CT RN license required.
- Certified Rhythm Analysis Technician (CRAT) or equivalent preferred.
- Strong communication and clinical problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment.
- Comfort with using clinical systems, telemetry technology, and escalation protocols.
