Job Summary

The Registered Nurse in the Centralized Monitoring Unit (CMU) supports the safe and efficient monitoring of nearly 300 patients’ cardiac rhythms and hemodynamic status. This is a non-direct care position, ideal for a clinically skilled RN with experience in telemetry who enjoys working in a fast-paced, technologically advanced environment.

Job Responsibilities

  • Support and coordinate the daily activities of Central Monitor Technicians to ensure timely and accurate telemetry monitoring.
  • Serve as a clinical resource for rhythm interpretation, protocol adherence, and telemetry best practices.
  • Collaborate with the CMU Nurse Educator to help provide training and reinforce department policies and procedures.
  • Support smooth transitions between shifts to maintain continuity of patient monitoring.
  • Participate in daily team huddles and contribute to unit-based initiatives.
  • Act as a communication link between the CMU and inpatient clinical staff, promoting timely updates and coordination.
  • Aid in reviewing staffing assignments and making adjustments as needed.
  • Contribute to quality improvement efforts related to telemetry and monitoring workflows.
  • Assist with coaching and guiding staff in real-time situations, promoting best practices and a supportive team environment.

Qualifications

  • BSN required; MSN preferred.
  • One degree must be in Nursing. Candidates actively pursuing a BSN or MSN may be considered, with continued progress toward degree completion expected within five years.
  • Minimum one year of nursing experience, including telemetry experience.
  • Current CT RN license required.
  • Certified Rhythm Analysis Technician (CRAT) or equivalent preferred.
  • Strong communication and clinical problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment.
  • Comfort with using clinical systems, telemetry technology, and escalation protocols.
