RN Clinical Nurse II - UNC Youth Behavioral Health Facility - Dogwood Unit

About the role

The Youth Behavioral Health (YBH) unit at UNC Medical Center in Butner, North Carolina, is seeking a Clinical Nurse II with at least one year of work experience in behavioral health nursing, preferably with adolescent mental health. The position involves working with a multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive care to pediatric patients in need of crisis stabilization.

Responsibilities

• Provides competent clinical nursing care consistent with professional standards.
• Coordinates and delivers patient care using the nursing process in a hospital setting.
• Participates in identifying and meeting learning needs of self.
• Affirms readiness to learn of the patient/family/caregivers.
• Assesses developmental level of patient and factors affecting ability to learn.
• Evaluates care by identifying expected patient outcomes.
• Communicates relevant information to promote continuity of care.
• Organizes and prioritizes care according to patient/family needs.
• Consults with appropriate resources in a timely fashion regarding patients with complex care issues.
• Develops and achieves goals within identified time frame or renegotiates with supervisor.
• Collaborates with patient/family to prepare or update the plan of care.
• Identifies and addresses cultural and ethnic issues in planning patient care.
• Reads journals that contain studies or articles applicable to practice.

Requirements

• Graduation from a school of professional nursing.
• Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of North Carolina.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification.

Qualifications

• One (1) year of nursing experience.

Skills

Strong understanding of pediatric patients in need of crisis stabilization and behavioral/psychosocial needs, excellent communication and team skills.

Pay

$34.22 - $48.38 per hour (Hiring Range)

Schedule

Night shift including rotating weekends and holidays. Hours: Full time; 36 Hours Per Week; Three 12 hour shifts a week.
