RN-Clinical Educator - Home Health and Hospice

About the role

This is a part-time role scheduled for 20 hours per week during business hours. Some flexibility is required.

Responsibilities

• Collaborates with nurse managers and staff to assess learning needs and competencies.
• Develops, implements, and evaluates educational plans/programs and utilizes methods, measurements, and tools to evaluate achievement of learning goals.
• Identifies and/or develops teaching tools and instructional materials.
• Maintains training records of educational activities in the Learning Management System or similar system.
• Applies the existing body of evidence-based practice and scientific knowledge in health care to nursing practice, ensuring that nursing care is delivered based on patient’s age-specific needs and clinical needs.
• Demonstrates the professional nursing standards defined in the professional practice model as an SSM Health nurse.
• Uses the ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses to guide responses to the current and evolving health and nursing needs of patients and patient populations.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree.
• Three years of registered nurse experience.

Physical Requirements

• Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs.
• Frequent sitting, standing, walking, reaching, and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.
• Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) and to identify and distinguish colors.
• Frequent use of hearing and speech to share information through oral communication.
• Ability to hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc.
• Frequent keyboard use/data entry.
• Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting, and gripping.
• Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25-50 lbs.
• Rare climbing.

Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience as an RN in Home Health and/or Hospice.

Required Licenses and Certifications

• Basic Life Support HealthCare Provider (BLS HCP) - American Heart Association (AHA).
• Registered Professional Nurse (RN) based on state of work location:
  • Illinois: Registered Professional Nurse (RN) - Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR).
  • Missouri: Registered Nurse (RN) - Missouri Division of Professional Registration or Registered Nurse (RN) issued by Compact State.
  • Oklahoma: Registered Nurse (RN) issued by Compact State or Registered Nurse (RN) - Oklahoma Board of Nursing (OBN).
  • Wisconsin: Registered Nurse (RN) issued by Compact State or Registered Nurse (RN) - Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services.
