About the role

Responsibilities
- Fulfills policies and procedures; demonstrates ability to access online manuals.
- Completes Nursing Assessment upon patient admission, at each shift, and with changes in condition.
- Interprets assessment information and formulates Nursing Diagnoses.
- Develops Plans of Care with individualized interventions, documenting expected/projected patient outcomes.
- Administers medication and IV therapy correctly, completes patient care procedures, delegates tasks, acts as patient advocate, manages restraint use, ensures MD orders, assessments, and monitoring, and completes the Restraint Audit Form.
- Provides patient/family education as needed, plans room/unit orientation, identifies knowledge deficits, uses MICROMEDEX information, and collaborates with Case Manager and/or physician for discharge planning.
- Utilizes patient care equipment appropriately and safely, manages time effectively, organizes responsibilities, observes regulatory agency requirements, and manages the care of medical surgical, intensive care unit/s, stepdown/telemetry units, and patients undergoing dialysis treatment.
- Engages psychiatric patients in therapeutic interactions, maintains therapeutic milieu, assesses and monitors for patient safety, logs visitors, administers psychotropic medications, and submits Fire Arms Reporting Form.
- Demonstrates de-escalation techniques and applies behavioral restraint/seclusion when necessary, ensuring physician assessments, obtaining orders, notifying Manager, and contacting significant others.
- Participates in professional hospital/nursing activities, obtains certifications, and engages in quality measures and professional development.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN).
- One year acute inpatient hospital experience as RN.
- Excellent communication skills, including proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing English.
- Knowledge of medical procedures and conditions, ability to understand, follow, and perform duties, including whole blood collection and apheresis procedures.
- Committed to excellence in patient care and customer service.
- Ability to work independently with minimal direction and supervision.
Preferred Qualifications
- Surgical Units: ICU and Telemetry experience.
- Specialty Certification.
Required Licenses/Certifications
- Registered Nurse (RN) - RN (CA Board of Registered Nursing).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider from American Heart Association.
- Fire Life Safety Training (LA City).
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Healthcare Provider from American Heart Association.
