RN Clinic Urgent Care

We’re looking for a Registered Nurse who will deliver nursing care using the nursing process, apply clinical knowledge, and exercise independent judgment to achieve quality patient outcomes. The role accepts accountability for care provided by self and delegates appropriately to other health care providers.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care within the ambulatory setting based on the nursing process and within role/scope of practice.
  • Perform preliminary patient assessments through observation and chart review to facilitate follow-up with the health care team.
  • Evaluate unstable or complex patient care situations and facilitate appropriate intervention.
  • Implement clinical decisions and demonstrate appropriate use of expert peers and/or management.
  • Accept accountability and use independent nursing judgment for care provided by self and delegated providers.
  • Apply standards of care, effective use of resources, and evaluate patient response in care delivery.
  • Use relevant scientific principles, established standards, and research findings to guide decisions and actions.
  • Determine and revise priorities for direct/indirect patient care based on acuity and available resources.
  • Use established patient care support systems, including documentation, communication, and information systems.
  • Provide educational instruction to patients and families regarding health care needs.
  • Identify teaching/learning needs, evaluate effectiveness, and document patient and family education.
  • Assist in orienting new employees according to unit orientation plans.
  • Apply knowledge gained from educational experiences when providing patient care and instruction.
  • Engage in mentoring and networking to promote professional development.
  • Foster integration of staff and students into the health care team.
  • Promote the unit’s mission, values, and vision through open communication and conflict management.
  • Interact with health care team members to meet patient care needs.
  • Participate in Performance Improvement activities as appropriate.

Requirements

  • Current Registered Nurse license issued by the state where services will be provided or a multi-state RN license through the enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC).
  • Temporary RN permits accepted per state regulations:
    • Maryland: No temporary permit issued. Must document recent graduation from a nursing school and obtain permanent RN license within 90 days of graduation.
    • Ohio: No temporary permit issued. Nurses must be currently licensed.
    • Pennsylvania: Current PA Registered Nurse Temporary Permit. Must obtain permanent licensure within one year of graduation.
    • West Virginia: Current WV Registered Nurse Grad Permit. Must obtain permanent licensure within 180 days of graduation.
  • Certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing preferred.
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Diploma accepted if currently enrolled in a BSN program with completion within 5 years of hire.

  • Ability to assess and interpret patient data to identify age-specific needs.
  • Knowledge and skills necessary to provide care relevant to patients across the lifespan.

  • Ability to mentor and develop others.

Physical Requirements

  • Heavy/hard work requiring strength and stamina, including lifting, moving, stooping, reaching, standing, walking, and carrying materials/equipment weighing 40+ lbs.
  • Adherence to safe patient handling guidelines: limit manual lifting to 35 pounds; use lift equipment and patient handling aids as indicated.

Working Environment

  • Close collaboration with health care team members.
  • Irregular or protracted hours.
  • Exposure to biohazards, infectious diseases, and electrical hazards associated with patient care equipment.
  • Hands-on work, including tasks requiring hands in water.
  • Potential travel between multiple clinic locations.

Schedule

3 × 12-hour shifts (7:45 AM – 8:15 PM), 36 hours weekly.
