About the Role
Provides professional nursing care within an assigned unit at Knoxville Heart Group, coordinating care planning with other disciplines. This is a full-time position with 72 hours per pay period on the day shift.
Responsibilities
- Correlates patient history and support systems within hospital care/nursing home care.
- Assesses needs of patient and family.
- Develops and initiates plan of care, involving patient and family.
- Recommends interventions and evaluates plan of care.
- Resolves complex patient/management/physician problems without supervision using clinical expertise and knowledge.
- Demonstrates competence in delivering care according to the age-specific needs of the population served.
- Leads or participates in process improvement initiatives in their unit or facility team.
- Precepts new employees/students or attends formal preceptor workshops; reviews clinical performance of preceptee with unit leader or clinical instructor.
- Provides four contact hours of educational activities, excluding basic patient education.
- Contributes to development and evaluation of unit orientation program.
- Supervises LPNs.
- Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
Requirements
- Valid Tennessee RN license.
- Minimum of three (3) years of professional experience.
- Yearly infection control, fire, safety, and CPR in-services are required.
Continuing Education
- Twenty (20) hours required annually (10 to enhance clinical expertise); or
- Fifteen (15) hours required annually, plus ACLS certification; or
- Ten (10) hours required annually, plus specialty certification; or
- Ten (10) hours required annually, plus ACLS instructor certification.
