About the Role

Provides professional nursing care to patients within the medical practice in support of, and as directed by, the physicians. Assists the physician in the treatment of patients and completes related clinical paperwork. Integrates the Mercy Philosophy of caring for the sick and suffering, respect for human life and the dignity of each person, applying Christian values to all crucial human issues. A caring, friendly, personal and professional approach is expected in communicating with patients, families, visitors, and employees.

Responsibilities

  • Provide professional nursing care and clinical support to pediatric patients in a specialty clinic setting.
  • Escort patients to exam rooms, obtain medical history, assess patient condition, and record vital signs.
  • Prepare patients for physician examinations and procedures while ensuring patient comfort and safety.
  • Assist physicians with examinations, treatments, and specialty procedures.
  • Administer medications, including IM, subcutaneous, intradermal injections, and IV therapy as ordered.
  • Perform clinical procedures specific to pediatric respiratory and sleep medicine.
  • Coordinate diagnostic testing, laboratory work, and imaging as needed.
  • Triage and respond to patient and parent phone calls, collaborating with providers to ensure timely follow-up.
  • Document patient information accurately within the electronic health record (EHR).
  • Provide education to patients and families regarding treatment plans, medications, and self-care.
  • Maintain exam rooms, clinical supplies, medications, and equipment according to established standards.
  • Assist with referrals, prior authorizations, and coordinated care activities.
  • Support emergency preparedness activities and respond appropriately to urgent clinical situations.
  • Adhere to infection prevention standards, safety protocols, and Mercy policies.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Missouri (or eligible for Missouri licensure).
  • CPR Certification (or ability to obtain within 90 days of employment).

Qualifications

Previous nursing experience is welcomed but not required.

  • Passion for working with pediatric patients and their families.
  • Strong assessment, communication, and patient education skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and effective in urgent or emergency situations.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced outpatient specialty practice.
  • Proficiency with electronic medical records and basic computer applications.

Schedule

Full-Time | 36 Hours a Week
Monday - Thursday 8am - 4pm & Friday 8am - 2pm
