Baylor Scott & White Continuing Care Hospital – Temple is a 48‑bed, highly advanced medical facility offering private patient rooms and 24‑hour access to an on‑site physician team. Our modern, patient‑focused hospital provides acute care for patients requiring extended hospital stays, including recovery following serious illness or surgery. Unit Details

  • Department: Skilled Nursing Unit, Wound Care and RT on site
  • Unit Size: 23 beds, 45 staff members
  • Nurse‑to‑Patient Ratio: 5:1

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the Charge Nurse for the Skilled Nursing Unit, providing clinical leadership and operational oversight during assigned shifts
  • Coordinate patient care and patient flow while ensuring safe staffing and appropriate resource utilization
  • Support, mentor, and guide nursing staff, promoting teamwork and professional development
  • Collaborate closely with physicians, case management, therapy services, and other interdisciplinary team members
  • Ensure high‑quality, patient‑centered care and adherence to hospital policies, procedures, and standards
  • Monitor patient conditions, address clinical concerns, and escalate issues as needed
  • Foster a positive, respectful, and supportive unit culture

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited Registered Nursing program
  • Current Texas RN license
  • 3 years of clinical experience required
  • Previous experience in Skilled Nursing, MS acute care, or long‑term acute care strongly preferred
  • Prior Charge Nurse or leadership experience preferred
  • Strong clinical judgment, communication, and organizational skills
  • Commitment to teamwork, patient safety, and staff support

Essential Functions

  • Utilize nursing judgment and reasoning to make precise health assessments, ensuring these assessments align with standard practices
  • Check nursing procedures and use research to make changes
  • Demonstrate caring practices by addressing both emotional and physical discomfort, aiming to foster healing and prevent excess distress

Key Success Factors

  • Familiarity with nursing and patient care protocols and practices
  • Proven communication skills both in speech and writing
  • Exceptional problem-solving abilities coupled with smart critical thinking skills
