About the Role

The Clinical Supervisor is responsible for the clinical supervision and hospital operations during the assigned shift. They assess, plan, coordinate, and evaluate the clinical and operational functions of the unit to ensure quality, cost-effective healthcare is provided by an educated and competent staff. The role serves as a patient advocate and an administrative resource during the shift to ensure care meets hospital and professional standards.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate the delivery of nursing care using the nursing process of assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation of individual patients.
• Provide direct care and delegate/supervise all nursing care in accordance with the applicable Nurse Practice Act.
• Coordinate nursing unit activities related to patient care.
• Participate in patient and family education as needed.
• Provide leadership and clinical guidance by working with and supporting nursing staff and other ancillary personnel.
• Participate in the interdisciplinary review process for patients, incorporating information into the plan of care and education plan.

Requirements

• Current, valid, and active license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of employment.
• Current BLS certification from an approved vendor.
• Current ACLS certification from an approved vendor required within six (6) months of hire.
• One (1) year of medical/surgical hospital experience.

Qualifications

• Two (2) years of acute care nursing experience preferred.
• Critical care experience preferred.
• Previous Charge Nurse/Supervisory experience preferred.
• Ability to project a professional image.
• Knowledge of regulatory standards and compliance requirements.
• Strong organizational, prioritizing, and analytical skills.
• Ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant.
• Working knowledge of computer and software applications used in job functions.
• Freedom from illegal use of and effects of use of drugs and alcohol in the workplace.
