RN Cath Lab
About This Unit
The Cath Lab serves adult populations to provide diagnostic procedures, invasive/intraoperative, electrophysiology procedures, and non-invasive techniques and modalities using ionizing radiation, with the use of contrast media. Perform over 2000 CV/EP procedures per year. Team members include RN's, Radiologic Technologists, CV Technologists. Roles are circulator RN, x-ray tech, monitor tech and scrub tech. Staff wear hospital scrubs. Cath Lab department has 4 procedure rooms to serve both outpatients and inpatients.
Responsibilities
- Assess patient needs and identifies expected nursing outcomes
- Collaborates with patient, family and other health team members to develop a nursing plan as part of an integrated, comprehensive plan of care
- Develops an individualized plan based on age, social and cultural considerations, condition and other relevant needs
- Evaluates care and patient response to interventions and expected outcomes
- Collaborates and communicates effectively and respectfully with the patient, family and members of the health care team within and across care settings to promote partnership-based health care
- Demonstrates the ability to advance care by utilizing standards, guidelines, care pathways and continuous improvement to enhance patient outcomes
- Promotes a culture of evidence based practice (EBP)
- Deliver care to patients undergoing invasive diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, including: cardiac and radiologic procedures
- Demonstrates ability to safely and accurately operate equipment
- Assists with Cath Lab/Interventional Radiology procedures
- Uses communication strategies to achieve desirable outcomes
Required Qualifications
- 2 years of RN Cath Lab or Interventional Radiology Experience
- Minnesota RN License
- BLS for healthcare providers
- ACLS (required upon hire)
- Must be able to respond to the hospital within 30 minutes of receiving a page or stay within this range when on-call
Preferred Qualifications
- BSN, or enrolled in a BSN completion program
- 2+ years of ICU (experience with hemodynamic monitoring, advanced airways, vents, critical care drips, iv pressers, and ACLS related drugs) or ER/ED RN work experience
Schedule
This position is 48 hours per pay period, M-F, hours are typically 8:00-4:30pm. Call is required during the weekdays and weekends and need to be able to arrive at the Hospital in Edina, MN within 30 minutes of being called in. Approximately 1 weekend every 4-5 weeks. Includes a holiday rotation schedule.
