About the Role

This position accepts responsibility and accountability for delivering patient care with the multidisciplinary team while using the nursing process and maintaining professional nursing standards.

Responsibilities

  • Assess and evaluate the patient’s physical, psychosocial, environmental, spiritual, social, and educational needs, and document patient/family responses to nursing interventions while collaborating with the multidisciplinary team to achieve desired patient care outcomes.
  • Develop and implement the patient’s plan of care, including the discharge plan, based on standards of nursing practice, health center policy, and patient/family needs using clinical/critical thinking skills.
  • Review and update the plan of care based on changes in the patient’s condition.
  • Guide and direct patient care activities for the indicated population, utilizing clinical/critical thinking skills and evidence-based practice.
  • Provide daily direction and guidance to Nurse Assistants.
  • Provide, facilitate, and/or implement learning opportunities to meet the educational needs of patient/family by assessing learning needs and formulating and initiating a teaching plan.
  • Effectively communicate pertinent patient changes/conditions to colleagues and multidisciplinary caregivers.

Requirements

  • Current RN licensure in the state of Iowa, or qualified multi-state license required.
  • Graduate of an accredited RN program required.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.
  • Previous experience in acute care preferred but not required; will train new RN graduates.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects at one time and flexibility to meet department needs.

Schedule

Full-time, 36 hours weekly, 12-hour day shift.
