RN - C.P. Choudari Surgical Center- As Needed

About the role

The Registered Nurse in the C.P. Choudari Surgical Center will have a strong focus on pre-op and post-op care for patients. This includes medication review, pre-op assessment, procedure preparation (including IV starts), and post anesthesia care. Under the direction of the attending physician and the direct supervision of the office manager/supervisor, the registered nurse provides general nursing care to patients in the ambulatory surgery facility using nursing processes, independent judgement, and evidenced based practice to assess actual or potential health problems. In addition, the registered nurse provides other clinical tasks ensuring compliance with policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Delivers and documents patient care during the intraoperative period.
• Provides pre-op and post-op care for patients.
• Performs medication review and pre-op assessment.
• Prepares patients for procedures including IV starts.
• Provides post anesthesia care.
• Ensures compliance with policies and procedures.

Requirements

• Education: ASN or RN Diploma nursing required. BSN preferred.
• Experience: Minimum of one-year clinical experience preferred. PACU, Surgery Center, Critical Care experience preferred.
• Licensure/Certification: Current license to practice as Registered Nurse in the State of Maryland, or if resident of a state that participates in Nurse Multi-State Compact agreement, holds Registered Nurse License from that state that is designated as "Compact" or "Multi-State Privilege" using primary source verification and provides additional documentation as required by the Maryland Board of Nursing. RN License from a compact state with a designation of "Single State" does not meet the requirement and nurse must obtain a Maryland license.
• Current BLS (CPR) in compliance with policy.
• Able to apply the standards of the professional nursing practice with compassion and empathy.
