About the role
The Behavioral Health Unit (BHU) at Jefferson Hospital consists of 24 adult beds and provides inpatient services to individuals dealing with mental health crises such as suicidal ideation. Disorders served include depression, anxiety, bipolar, personality, schizoaffective, and schizophrenia. Services provided include medication management, social service, occupational therapy, and group therapy.
Responsibilities
- Provides leadership in a professional practice setting.
- Assigns or delegates tasks based on patient needs and staff capabilities.
- Ensures a safe environment and monitors patient conditions.
- Shares knowledge and skills with peers and colleagues.
- Participates in interdisciplinary teams to evaluate clinical care and health services.
- Promotes patient safety initiatives and participates in department-specific quality initiatives.
- Safeguards appropriate order sets and supervises delegated LPN scope of practice.
- Uses the nursing process to assess, plan, evaluate, and implement a patient care plan.
- Affirms patient and family-centered communication and resolves concerns.
- Manages time effectively to meet assigned duties and responsibilities.
Qualifications
- Minimum Act 34, Act 33, and Act 73 criminal background clearances.
- CPR certification.
- Current State of Pennsylvania RN license or multi-state licensure through the Enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC).
- Preferred certification in an area of specialty.
