About the role
Banner Behavioral Health Hospital in Scottsdale, AZ, was remodeled and expanded in 2017, providing new, state-of-the-art units for patients and staff. This voluntary facility serves adults and adolescents, providing safe, confidential, and compassionate treatment with customized treatment plans. RN positions support the Adult patient population, providing 24/7 crisis intervention and therapeutic services in a medically safe, recovery-focused environment. Schedule
- Full Time Day Shift: 7am – 7pm
- 3 shifts per week
- Includes weekends and holidays on a rotating basis
- Self-scheduling tool available for shift and weekend coverage
- $3/hour flat rate weekend shift differential
Sign-on incentive
$10,000 Sign-On Incentive available, requiring 12 months of Behavioral Health experience and a 1-year commitment to the unit.
Responsibilities
- Assess patient physical, psychological, social, spiritual, educational, developmental, cultural, and discharge planning needs
- Review patient history and physical with patient/family, assuring completion within appropriate timeframe
- Review available information obtained by other health care team members, diagnostics, and laboratory data, reporting abnormal results to physicians and appropriate caregivers
- Complete assessment and reassessments according to patient need and as outlined in policy
- Formulate a plan of care, including the discharge plan, utilizing assessment data and patient, family, and health team input
- Initiate a plan of care based on patient-specific needs, assessment data, and the medical plan of care with realistic, measurable goals developed in conjunction with the patient/family
- Consider physical, cultural, psychosocial, spiritual, age-specific, and educational needs of the patient in the plan of care
- Plan care in collaboration with members of the multidisciplinary team and review/revise the plan to reflect changing patient needs
- Implement the plan of care through direct patient care, coordination, delegation, and supervision of the health care team
- Provide care based on physician orders and the nursing plan of care, in compliance with policies, procedures, standards of care, and regulatory agency requirements
- Delegate appropriately and provide nursing supervision in the provision of care to patients by other licensed nurses and personnel
- Promote continuity of care by accurately and completely communicating patient status to other caregivers
- Evaluate patient and family response to care and teaching, revising the plan of care as needed
- Evaluate patient progress towards goals and expected outcomes in collaboration with other health care team members
- Document assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation in the patient record with legible, timely documentation reflecting objective/subjective data, nursing interventions, and patient's response to treatment
- Note physician orders accurately and in a timely manner
- Provide care based on best evidence available and participate in research activities within clinical practice
- Participate in unit or facility shared leadership
- Interact and participate in education, role development, and orientation of facility personnel, patients, students, families, and visitors
- Promote/support growth of others through precepting and mentoring when appropriate
- Contribute to society through activities leading to excellent patient outcomes through timely, effective, efficient, equitable, and safe care
- Actively participate in the improvement of national nursing quality indicators and outcomes, which may include participating in professional organizations
- In some roles, supervise staff and work flow of the department
- Interact with all levels of staff in various departments, physicians, patients, families, external contacts, health care providers, and clergy to report, request, clarify information, and provide spiritual support
- Synthesize and prioritize data from multiple sources to provide support for the human response of the patient and family to changes in health status
Requirements
- Current, valid RN license in state of practice, temporary/interim RN license, or compact RN licensure for current state of practice
- BLS certification required; additional certification or continuing education may be required based on area of practice
- Experience in the clinical area for which applying is desired
- Must maintain clinical performance competencies appropriate to the area of work as demonstrated through annual validations
- Banner Registry and Travel acute care positions require minimum one year experience in an acute care hospital setting within the past 12 months as a Registered Nurse in the specialty area
- Banner Registry and Travel physician practice positions require minimum one year experience as a Registered Nurse in a physician practice or acute care setting
- Home Health setting team members must operate personal vehicle, possess valid driver's license, and maintain active auto insurance coverage
- Employees at Banner Behavioral Health Hospital, BTMC Behavioral or BUMG, BUMCT in a Behavioral Health clinical setting serving children must possess an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card at time of hire and maintain it for duration of employment
- An Arizona Criminal History Affidavit must be signed upon hire at those locations
- Employees at BUMCS in a Behavioral Health clinical setting must possess an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card at time of hire and maintain it for duration of employment
- Employees at Banner Home Care AZ must possess an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card at time of hire and maintain it for duration of employment
- Employees in any Banner Staffing (BSS) Behavioral Health role in Arizona must possess a State of Arizona Department of Public Safety Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card at time of hire and maintain it for duration of employment
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree preferred
- Professional certification preferred
- Additional related education and/or experience preferred
