About the role

Registered Nurse (RN) at Meridell Achievement Center, a 134‑bed, seclusion‑free psychiatric residential treatment facility in Liberty Hill, Texas. The RN works under the supervision of the Director of Nursing and serves as shift supervisor for Mental Health Technicians and LVN staff, providing direct care to children, adolescents, and young adults (ages 10‑17) in a 24‑hour psychiatric program.

Responsibilities

• Perform physical assessments of patients.
• Implement treatment plans and evaluate patient response.
• Complete thorough documentation of care.
• Administer medications as prescribed.
• Provide health‑care education to patients and families.
• Supervise Mental Health Technicians and LVN staff during the shift.
• Ensure a safe and therapeutic environment for all patients.
• Deliver direct patient care and management for children, adolescents, and young adults as prescribed by physicians and the treatment team.
• Maintain safety, supervision, and crisis management for the patient population.
• Conduct assessment and medical management of patients and assist in managing the therapeutic milieu.

Qualifications

• BSN from an accredited nursing program.
• Current Texas Registered Nurse license.
• Current driver’s license.
• Preferred: one year psychiatric/neuropsychiatric experience with adolescents and/or young adults in a long‑term hospital or residential setting.
• Knowledge of psychiatric patient‑care techniques and mental illness (preferred).
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of patient and employee information.
• Effective organizational skills and ability to develop and implement patient‑care services.
• Ability to initiate and implement all phases of the nursing process and provide safe nursing care.
• Understanding of patient rights.
• Basic supervisory skills.
