About the Role

The RN is responsible for providing direct nursing care to residents and supervising the day-to-day nursing activities performed by nursing assistants in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Direct the day-to-day functions of nursing assistants.
  • Plan and coordinate shift services, programs, and activities with assigned nursing staff and support personnel.
  • Make written and oral reports concerning shift activities as required.
  • Admit, transfer, and discharge residents as required.
  • Provide leadership to nursing personnel assigned to your unit/shift.
  • Complete and file required recordkeeping forms/charts upon resident admission, transfer, and/or discharge.
  • Receive and transcribe telephone orders from physicians and record them on the Physician’s Order Form.
  • Chart nurse’s notes in an informative and descriptive manner reflecting care provided and resident response.
  • Fill out and complete accident/incident reports and submit them to the Director as required.
  • Perform routine charting duties in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Prepare and administer medications as ordered by the physician.
  • Develop and maintain good working relationships with inter-departmental personnel to ensure adequate nursing services.
  • Create and maintain a warm, calm, and positive environment for residents and staff.
  • Receive and give nursing reports at the start and end of shift duty hours.
  • Make rounds with physicians as necessary.
  • Administer professional services such as catheterization, tube feedings, suction, wound care, colostomy care, IV therapy, and range-of-motion exercises.
  • Monitor assigned personnel to ensure compliance with safety regulations for equipment and supplies.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all resident care information, including protected health information.
  • Ensure nursing care is provided in privacy and staff knock before entering resident rooms.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Registered Nurse with current unencumbered state licensure.
  • Ability to work 12-hour shifts.
