About the role
As a Registered Nurse, you will assist in the organization and daily function of the operating room in accordance with established facility policies and procedures. You will oversee patient care activities and maintain a high standard of safety for patients and staff members.
Responsibilities
- Maintains active professional relationships with physicians and patients by assessing needs and levels of satisfaction with facility services.
- Makes sound nursing judgments based on nursing theory.
- Ensures medical records documentation is legible, concise, and accurate.
- Organizes equipment, instruments, medication, and supplies for cases according to patient needs and physician preference cards.
- Demonstrates working knowledge and experience in hospital or ambulatory surgical center operating rooms.
- Provides appropriate nursing management and intervention in the perioperative period.
- Performs surgical prep per standard of care and surgeon preference.
- Adheres to recommended traffic patterns.
- Effectively communicates and interacts with patients, their families, and other external and internal clients (including fellow employees) from diverse backgrounds.
- Uses knowledge of medical record policy and procedure.
- Supports initiatives designed to improve individual and organizational performance.
Requirements
- 2+ years’ experience in an ambulatory surgery center or operating room is strongly preferred.
- Experience with ophthalmic procedures is preferred but not required.
- Experience as an operating room nurse is preferred but not required.
- Familiar with computer software and the ability to learn new systems quickly (Electronic health record experience preferred).
- Able to remain focused and organized and stand for extended periods.
Qualifications
- 2 or 4-year degree plus a current, unencumbered RN license in the state of Nevada.
- Current RN license and BLS certification required.
- ACLS certification obtained within 6 months of hire.
Physical Demands
- Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel.
- Frequently required to stand, walk, and sit.
- Must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
