Job Summary

Responsibilities

• Provides basic and select advanced nursing care to patients within the Student Nurse Apprentice scope of practice and under the supervision of a licensed nurse.
• Performs patient care responsibilities considering needs specific to the standard of care for patients age, gender, socioeconomic status, education, physical and mental abilities, and racial and ethnic background.
• Affords assistance with admission, transfer and discharge of patients.
• Explains to patients and families prior to administering care, and answers questions within scope of practice.
• Demonstrates flexibility, organization, and appropriateness in stressful situations.
• Responds to patients in emergency or physically distressing situations.
• Documentation meets current standards and guidelines.
• Utilizes resources appropriately.
• Performs other duties as assigned, within the Student Nurse Apprentice scope of practice.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED required.
• Enrolled in a Board approved nursing education program.
• Actively engaged in a registered apprenticeship.
• Has obtained a Student Nurse Apprentice permit issued from the Alabama Board of Nursing.
• BLS certification required.
