About the role
The 5A Telemetry Observation Unit at Allegheny General Hospital is a specialized 38-bed unit focusing on rapid assessment, treatment, and monitoring for patients with acute medical conditions such as chest pain, transient ischemic attacks (TIAs), and trauma. The unit operates as a Clinical Decision Unit (CDU) or Observation Unit, serving as a bridge between the Emergency Department and inpatient care.
Responsibilities
- Provides care based on the nursing process, demonstrating clinical assessment and care planning skills.
- Directs and manages patient care activities, collaborating with the multidisciplinary team to develop and implement the plan of care from admission to discharge.
- Assesses learning needs of patients and families and educates them based on age, culture, and willingness to learn.
Requirements
- Minimum Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance Certificate, Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance Certificate, Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance Certificate.
- Current State of PA RN licensure or current multi-state licensure through the enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC).
- CPR certification.
