UnityPoint-St. Luke's - Hours: 7pm-7am (12/hr shifts and every third weekend)

Responsibilities

  • Delegates nursing care activities and monitors care given by appropriate care team members in accordance with patient needs, and the team member's professional capabilities and qualifications.
  • Supports use of Evidenced Based Practice and incorporates best practices into daily care routine.
  • Assists in creating a positive work environment by mentoring of staff/students, and working with team members to develop and facilitate initiatives to strive for positive outcomes in quality and care of patients.
  • Effectively communicates with all team members, physicians, ancillary staff and all customers.
  • Complies with all policies and procedures, and guides team members with compliance.
  • Compiles with all safety goals, infection prevention and risk management policies and procedures.

Qualifications

  • Education: Completion of an accredited nursing program.
  • Certificate/License:
    • Valid IA nursing license
    • Basic Certified Life Support certification prior to hire.
    • Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification within 6 months from date of hire, UNLESS ADT Nurse and not part of code blue team.
    • Must obtain NIHSS education within 90 days of hire and maintain every two years thereafter.
    • Completion of six hours of stroke education prior to the end of orientation and annually.
  • Minimum Experience: New Grad to Experienced RN
  • Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
    • Basic computer knowledge.
    • Successful completion of unit orientation and competencies.
    • Must be able to communicate effectively and read, write, comprehend & speak English.
