About the Role
Provides direct and indirect patient care in the assigned care setting. Communicates and collaborates with physicians, leadership, co-workers, and other multidisciplinary teams to enhance patient outcomes. Delivers high-quality patient care using critical thinking, nursing processes, decision-making, compassion, integrity, respect, and empathy. Preserves patient autonomy, dignity, and rights while restoring health whenever possible. Performs general nursing duties, patient education, and prioritization, along with other assigned tasks.
Responsibilities
- Assesses patients accurately based on their medical condition.
- Administers ordered medications with knowledge of their purpose and effects.
- Provides care tailored to the condition and age of the patient, including basic self-care activities.
- Formulates and implements a teaching plan based on identified learning needs; evaluates learning effectiveness and includes family in teaching as appropriate.
- Utilizes nursing knowledge to perform treatments and provide services.
- Communicates and collaborates with the multidisciplinary team to ensure coordinated patient care.
- Assists physicians with procedures and performs technical and manual skills as required.
- Identifies and addresses psychosocial needs of patients and families; coordinates with social services for hospital and post-discharge needs.
- Demonstrates cost-effective practices, non-wasteful usage of supplies, linen, and charge items.
- Prioritizes patient care effectively and efficiently to promote safety and reduce unnecessary harm.
- Commits to lifelong learning related to the nursing profession.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program (required).
- RN licensure (required).
- BLS certification within 14 days of hire (required).
- Computer literacy (required).
- ACLS/PALS certification (preferred/desired).
- Specialty certification (preferred/desired).
