About the Role
Join the growing Neuro & Stroke Program at UF Health Leesburg as a Registered Nurse (RN) in Critical Care. This role is part of a unique neuro-focused nursing environment designed to support professional growth and clinical development within a Joint Commission-certified Thrombectomy-Capable Stroke Center (TSC). The unit serves as the Neuro Hub for UF Health Central Florida, bringing together specialized neuro and stroke care, clinical expertise, education, and professional development.
Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive assessments of critically ill patients and develop individualized plans of care.
- Monitor hemodynamic status, cardiac rhythms, respiratory function, and other critical patient indicators.
- Administer medications, treatments, and therapies in accordance with physician orders and nursing standards of practice.
- Recognize changes in patient condition and initiate appropriate interventions to ensure patient safety.
- Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate care.
- Operate and monitor specialized critical care equipment and technology.
- Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, medications, and discharge planning.
- Accurately document patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes within the electronic medical record.
- Maintain compliance with hospital policies, regulatory standards, and evidence-based nursing practices.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and professional development activities.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- Current Florida Registered Nurse (RN) License.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Certification.
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) Certification.
Preferred Qualifications
- One (1) year or more of recent Critical Care, Intensive Care Unit (ICU), Progressive Care, Emergency Department, or related acute care nursing experience.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
- Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) certification or willingness to obtain.
- Experience caring for patients requiring advanced monitoring, ventilator management, and vasoactive medication administration.
- Strong assessment, communication, prioritization, and critical thinking skills.
